MIT Museum Exhibit Highlights the Effects of Climate Change

The MIT Museum’s exhibition “Rivers of Ice: Vanishing Glaciers of the Greater Himalaya” opened in April 2012 and will run through March 2013.

A public symposium, “What’s Your Question? – Rivers of Ice“, was held in conjunction with the Cambridge Science Festival and the opening of the exhibit, to share the stunning images of the Himalayan glaciers, and to bring together scientists and community members to debate questions about our climate, environment, water supply and more. Advisors to the MIT Museum exhibition include CGCS faculty and researchers: Patrick Heimbach, Susan Solomon and Ronald Prinn. The exhibition draws from mountaineer and filmmaker David Breashears’ breathtaking photographs, and places them in context with those of earlier mountaineer photographers – revealing the glacial melt that has occurred over time.
