Dr. Md Sami Bin Shokrana

CGCS Postdoctoral Associate
Research Staff

Sami Shokrana is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the MIT Center for Global Change Science (CGCS). His work at CGCS focuses on the impacts of climate change on urban flooding in a coastal setting. Sami performs flood risk analysis for the cities of Cambridge using the ICM2D model and working to extending it to cover Boston. Sami previously worked on evaluating the efficiency of different BMPs in reducing the eutrophication problem in the freshwater ecosystems. He used different field-scale hydrologic models (e.g., DRAINMOD, RZWQM2, etc.) to predict the fate and transport of water and nutrients (i.e., nitrogen and phosphorus) from subsurface-drained agricultural fields. Additionally, Samiconducted experiments to develop a stage-discharge relationship for a V-notch weir placed inside a control structure in an agricultural setting.
